The Year's Second Biggest Sale to Date Headlines a Solid Fortnight in the Domain Market
I was away for my mother's funeral last week (after a long, inspirational life she left us peacefully in her sleep at age 97). As a result I have two weeks worth of sales data for you this week that will bring you up to date on all sales reported since my last column. It was a solid couple of weeks for the domain aftermarket headlined by the blockbuster $800,000 sale of Kiwi.com thatElliot Silver reported at DomainInvesting.com.DomainNameSales handled the sale to Czech companySkypicker.com, S.R.O. on behalf of seller Future Media Architects. That is the second biggest sale reported so far this year, trailing only NameJet's $929,000 sale of TP.com that we reported earlier this month. In another six-figure transaction Sedo claimed the #2 slot on our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart with a $150,000 sale ofCirca.com booked by their Senior Broker Dave Evanson. Sedo went on to pile up seven of the top ten entries including #3Pferde.net ("horse" in German) at $49,950 in one of the year's biggest non .com gTLD sales. They rounded out the first five with1787.com ($40,501) and FZV.com ($26,085). FZV.com was the first in a string of 3-letter .com sales that filledfive consecutive positions on the top half of the leader board. Sedo had three of those and KeywordDomain.com got the other two with IVJ.com and OEJ.com at $25,000 each. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

It was a very diverse couple of weeks with the 12 .coms on the Big Board joined by three non .com gTLDs and five ccTLDs. DomainLore.co.uk led the latter group with their $12,605 sale of #12 DistanceLearning.co.uk. One of the three charted non .com gTLD sales was a new gTLD - #15 Earth.works - sold by Mark Sherwood for $11,250 in a private transaction. In addition to the all of these sales, George Kirikos from Leap.com discovered a previously unreported 2015 sale in which Connection.com changed hands for $450,000. As he has done many times before, George found the purchase while examining SEC filings - this one filed by buyer PC Connection (Connection.com now re-directs to the computer supplier's existing website). Thanks to George we have been able to add this sale to our 2015 Top 100 Chartwhere is ranks as the 17th biggest sale of that year.
